Some of them we read because they were related to the Integrated Studies units we were working on, but others we read because one of us heard it was good.

Mrs C would like some suggestions from other grades of books they think we should read, especially books by Australian authors.

The 2007 school year is over and we’ve said goodbye to our grade 6 students. Most of our grade 5 students have moved into other grades but a few are staying on to lead our new class into the 2008 school year, so a special hello to Jacob, Robert, Mariah, Kim and Nikita. In 2008 we will be learning a whole lot more about blogs and even webpages, so stay tuned! Please post any suggestions or links to excellent blogs and websites in a comment – we’d love some inspiration.

The evening was wonderful, made all the better because it was run by you, for you. Fantastic efforts:

Fern – a brilliant speech; humorous, sentimental and thoughtful all at once. You’ve set a high standard for others to live up to.

Zac, Damien, Brayden and Alex – you were the backbone of a wonderful program and ticket team. The results were very professional looking and the organisation and help you gave to get the task done was invaluable. A successful mission, boys.

Becky – it was so great to see you up the front in the dance, taking part and smiling! Keep it up next year; I’ll be listening for news about you from high school.

Imogen – how brave are you? Solo music to an audience of over 400 people. Well done and make sure you hold on to that “can do” attitude.

Nick – you win the firm handshake award – or would if there was one! Your folks must have been so proud of the confident way you walked across the stage to receive your certificate.

Hannah – another speaker of a high calibre. You even managed to smile and speak clearly at the same time. Great job.

Matt – you organised yourself well in your Sovereign Hill speech and acted confident.I don’t know if you actually felt that way, but if you were nervous you hid it well.

Great work kids. Makes me wish I’d kept you down so I could have you all again next year! Grade fivers – your classmates and grade six students from other grades have set a high benchmark for you to aspire to next year.

Before that, though, we have the Summer holidays. Five whole weeks without a single day of school. So, what are your plans? Are you going anywhere? Have you set yourself any goals? How will you prepare for next year?
